GARDEN
TABLET One of Brooke Astor’s famous quotes is, “Money is like manure. It should be spread around.” Whether you’re fertilizing your garden or encouraging a healthier economic foundation for the world, this quote rings true. Otherwise, you’d have a useless pile of resources that nurtures nothing except weeds.
One evening at a friend’s house I overheard a conversation during a poker game. One of the players was stating his view on NASA’s space program. He felt a large sum of funding was sunk into unknown endeavors while we presently have a dire lack of basic health care on this planet. This is true; he made a good point, but to discourage the exploration of outer space would be shortsighted of us. Ideally, we must have a balance between taking care of the here and now, and advancing new discoveries for generations to come. Web
